Students learn french kissing techniques
Students at the University of New Mexico were treated to a useful lesson in love from Mr William Cane, the author of The Art of Kissing as he guided five student couples through proper kissing techniques.

Tips on Kissing

Starting by asking the audience for opinions on what makes a good kiss, Mr Cane received a consensus of the women that they liked their partner to nibbles on their lips or makes sound effects. The men in the audience, however, were partial to nibbling on ears during a make-out session. Both men and women decided that sloppy and wet kisses were turn-offs.

Mr Cane also advised that "swallowing your own saliva" would also be polite. He then went on to humorously describe over 30 different ways to kiss including the "butterfly kiss," an "Eskimo kiss," and the "candy kiss," a kiss where partners exchange candy using only their mouths. He described what he called "lip-o-suction," a style that involves people gently sucking on their partner's lower or upper lip while they do the opposite.

Of those looking for something to surprise their boyfriend, he offered the following gem. "Tell your boyfriend to freeze, then kiss him all over," he said assuring the audience it would "work every time."

Dealing with hickeys and love bites

He also gave the advice that frozen spoons and pencil erasers are not remedies for making "love bites" disappear.

"They are bruises and they have to heal," he said. And he doesn`t encourage covering them with band-aids and turtlenecks either, naming them as "badges of courage" to be worn with pride.

At the end, two students stuck their heads into red pillowcases to create the impression giant tongues to help simulate and demonstrate the finer points of "soul kissing," or French kissing.

"Girls like being kissed on the neck more than I thought," claimed Mr Kleinsteuber, one of the demonstrators of the session who participated with his girlfriend, Dana Wood.

Ms Wood, who enjoyed learning about the different forms of kissing, said she was glad to be spending time with her boyfriend and said ," I thought it would be a fun thing for us to do together."
