French kissing takes your breath away - Valentine day 2004 derring-dos In northern Vicenza, a town near where Romeo and Juliet found true love in that classic Shakespeare play of the same name, a 31 year old Italian man needed oxygen after a Valentine Day's kissing marathon where he kissed his lover for 31 hours 18 minutes straight - a new world kissing record. His 30-year-old woman lover, however, was said to be in fairly good shape and not in any need of supplementary oxygen. In the Philippines, over 5,000 couples lined the streets to set a world record of the most couples kissing simultaneously for 10 seconds, inspired and led by example by Manila mayor Lito Atienza and his wife. In Thailand, 13 engaged couples decided to make their big day a little wet as they donned wetsuits and diving gear to exchange vows, rings and kisses underwater off the coast of southern Trang province. In New York, 17 couples celebrated the event by getting married and holding their solemnizations on the 80th floor of the Empire State Building. Back to main page
