Richard Gere has apologised, after getting in a little trouble in India, after publicly kissing hot Indian actress Shilpa Shetty at an AIDS awareness event. The spontaneous act, a parody of a move in his recent film Shall we dance, was slammed by Hindu hardliners and had him slapped with an arrest warrant in the city of Jaipur.

In an apology, Gere has said ,”What is most important to me is that my intentions as an HIV/AIDS advocate be made clear, and that my friends in India understand that it has never been, nor could it ever be, my intention to offend you.”

In a show that he is not completely wrong, several legal experts in India have expressed support for Gere. India’s former attorney general Soli Sorabjee told The Associated Press ,” The order is ridiculous. Even if this hugging and kissing was a bit vulgar, it does not amount to obscenity.”
