Dating couples who kiss along the streets of Beijing may find themselves in a whole load of unexpected trouble, now that the government has implemented a new network of CCTVs. These cameras apparently will trigger an alert when there is “violation” of the “safe distance” between two humans, and might raise an alert for criminal activity, for example, a kidnapping or a robbery.

So you guys and gals strolling along the streets or Beijing, beware. Perhaps ducking into that doorway might help. Perhaps getting indoors might help even more.

Then again, kissers might really be guilty. Who’s ever heard of an innocent kiss?
